Dr. Fatima Hafiz-Muid

The Imhotep Institute Charter High School announces the retirement of Dr. Fatima Hafiz-Muid from our board as of April 4, 2021.  Dr. Hafiz-Muid served four years as an outstanding chair and beacon of light for our institution.  She has brought her passion and life's work to Imhotep.  Guiding us through 3 renewals in her tenure.  Most recently Imhotep was granted a new five year charter in partnership with her leadership. She was voted on an additional term and she used that time to wisely transition the new chair Jack Drummond.  We at Imhotep truly value her experience and vast connections.  She has more than 30 years in the field of community engagement and education. As an academic, her research interests focused on emotions and teacher development in social spaces where issues of race, gender, class, ethnicity and nationality intersect. She is a servant leader who works to bridge, community, school and university across borders of difference. Her mastery in designing cross conversations that foster people feeling supported in their ability to respond to situations effectively is esteemed. Dr. Hafiz has extraordinary skill with facilitating listening and conversations that foster transformation in challenging social interactions. She is committed to leaving people in love with who they are and the work they do. She is the founder and lead facilitator for the REAL Change initiative, a 3 year dialogue and healing project in Chester, PA. This is one example of her facilitating conversations and cultural change work addressing violence,
trauma and community development.
